When we decided to take our 9-month-old daughter on her first flight to Park City, Utah, we were equally excited and terrified. As we packed, it became clear we were about to embark on an expedition more suited to Amazon deliveries than a simple family getaway. Strollers, pack-and-plays, a mountain of diapers—the amount of luggage we had was more than some people take for a month-long overseas trip.
As we wheeled our overloaded suitcases through the airport, we felt a mix of intimidation and embarrassment. “What were we thinking?” crossed our minds more times than we can count. With every curious look we received, we silently questioned our sanity.
Upon our arrival, all our concerns dissipated. The picturesque mountains greeted us, and the delightful town embraced us warmly. We admired the stunning views and discovered family-friendly restaurants where we could indulge without fearing the mess.
It was our first trip since COVID (not to mention first with a baby), so we splurged a bit on hotels. Both were incredibly kid friendly and we had no regrets.
Hotels:
Montage Deer Valley, Park City
The Grand America, Salt Lake City
Our days were filled with outdoor adventures— though mostly on our hotel room's patio during nap time— and great food. Check out the instagram page for photos of both properties - including kid and parent friendly amenities!
Looking back, we realized this trip was more than just a getaway; it was a revelation that traveling with a little one doesn’t have to be a disaster. In the end, the beautiful and hilarious memories are worth the hassle.
